Citysearch Editorial Review. Schlow recreates an authentic Italian dining experience via tried and tested recipes at this MGM Grand restaurant and bar. (Decidedly less authentic are the fake lemon trees that mark the entrance of the restaurant.) The decor is discreetly chic with browns, toffees and rustic brickwork warming up a cool beige and white palette. The narrow, linear bar lines up sleek white stools opposite a banquette. The menu is equally a mix of simplicity with colorful flourishes: The mushroom-stuffed Mezzaluna pasta has hints of truffle oil, and the Fazzoletti arrives with an unusual melange of asparagus puree and pine nuts. Dining at Alta Strada is a sumptuous relief, delivering what you want from an Italian meal--simple and classic--in the midst of a glitzy casino and hotel complex.
