Tips for G P Industries

November 30, 2012

I worked for Kirby back in 2000 and then I moved. I applied back to them when they claimed a new owner bought out the previous owner. The owner end up being the same owner as before. I needed a job and I found the listing on Craigslist. It said it was a customer service position answering phones and what the hours would be. I went in for an interview and I mentioned I was there for the position to answer phones and the man completely through that out the window. He wanted me to sell the vacuum cleaners. I knew there was no way I would go through with it, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I went to the training which I was told I would get paid for the training but never did. I did 2 days of the training and walked out because it was bs. They talked about the top earners and all the prizes you can win but I didn't believe it. So, the 2nd day I was there and they wanted me to lug around this huge vacuum. I was like I will not subject myself to such treatment. I walked out and never looked back. I do not recommend GP Industries/ Kirby. They are liars and will do anything to get you in the door.

Awful Branch!. SCAM!

My husband and I found this job on CL back in September 2011. We didn't know it was Kirby. They never said anything about it being a Kirby branch. All they told us is that was would be involved in "Sales" and that we would get $500.00 a week plus whatever we made in Sales.

We moved from several states away. And they kept telling us that everything will be okay. It wasn't. It was awful.

We asked them repeatedly if this was STEADY. They said "Yes yes, you can make the move, no worries". That was B.S.

Later we found out that you are only guaranteed $500 avg if you are able to do 15 appointments per week. Each appointment will take you 3-6hrs and you are given 3 appointments per day. So 3 appointments x 5 days = 15 appointments. ITS IMPOSSIBLE! They even told us it's impossible to get all 15 appointments in one week. And they told this to us after we had already moved.

They also kept over emphasizing free trips, bonuses, a trip to the Bahamas if you make 15 sales or 60 appointments in a month. That should have been a red flag for us but I guess we didn't think it would be a scam since they knew we were moving in from out of State. I mean who would do that to someone travling 100s of miles? Hearless people!

If they would have just told us "Look, you are making a big move. This would most likely be better for local people and very risky for someone coming in out of State". I would have had much more respect for them. But they didn't do that. I don't know how they sleep at night knowing what they did to my husband and I.

Of course this was a while ago for me but I just wanted to share my story.

Scam alert!!!! Dishonest to start. they. Scam alert!!!!

Dishonest to start. they posted on craigs list and said that they where located in Warwick, RI. When you call they tell you it's in Norwich, CT.

Yesterday they posted it as a manufacturing job, today they posted it as a warehouse job.

What is it you ask? It's a door to door sales job for Kirby Vacuums, but they don't tell you that on the phone.

They apparently bring you into an orientation and show tell you about vacations in the tropics and show you check stubs from top sellers around the country, and tell you that you will get a 500 dollar base pay as long as you make 15 appointments.

Surprise, they make the appointments for you and you never get 15 a week, and even if you do, each demonstration supposedly takes around 6 hours with travel.

Do the math 500 divided by 90. that's about $5.60 an hour before taxes, gas, lunch, dinner, wear and tear.

If you think you can sell them think again. its a vacuum that cost almost two thousand dollars.

I was looking for a second job so I replied to a job ad on craigslist. The ad was for an "assembly worker" and stated that it was a flexible, choose your own hours type

What a bunch of disingenuous crap!. What a bunch of disingenuous crap! They make it sound like you are going to be a carpet cleaner in their ads and for those in RI have you travel an hour and a half... and will not tell you anything over the phone because they are so "busy". Hey, thanks for making me feel so valued! No phone interviews, no information. Ridiculous way to conduct business.

Rip off. Can you say "Kirby Vacuum Cleaner sales person"? Don't believe you will get paid unless you sell their vacuums!
