Groton >Peppertree Apartments
This is a really good and peaceful
complex to live in. My family and I have lived here for over a year now and we absolutely love it. I can only speak for the apartments in Groton because that is where we lived. I don’t know about the ones in New London or Wallingford.
The prices might be a bit high for some people; $800.00 for a 1bed & 1bath without utilities. They pay for cold water. Everything else the renter pays for [electric, Heat, AC & hot water], and $600-650 for a studio.
Pet friendly (cats only), and they charge extra $200.00 per month if you have a pet. Understandable because pets can ruin carpets and floors if the owners do not take care of their pets properly.
Each apartment has a garbage deposal, a balcony with a storage room, microwave, electric oven, and a dishwasher. (dishwasher not in studio).
They have an on-site Laundromat for renters (beside pool area). $1.90 for the washer & a little less for the dryer ($1.85 I think). I recommend doing your laundry during the week. It would be hard to find an open washer and dryer on the weekends. They have an exercise room above the Laundromat equipped with treadmill, bike machine, crosswalk, and a couple others. It does not have any heavy weight lifting equipment.
They have a pool (open from dawn till dusk in the spring and summer) that is very nice and well taken care of (often) with a grill and picnic area beside the pool. They have a basketball court and a nice little trail in a wooded area at the back of the main office area that leads to the pool, Laundromat and the other buildings. They mow the grass every week and really take care of the place.
The only thing I would probably recommend for a change would be to have Smoking and Non-Smoking renters in separate buildings; buildings just for Smokers and other buildings for Non-smokers.
I am a non-smoker. So it's pretty annoying to walk into the hallway and smell smoke (and often leaks into the apartment). Also when going outside on your private balcony you can smell the person smoking outside either below you, above you, or beside you; even when you have the sliding door open on nice days.
You are told at the time of renting that you are only allowed to smoke inside your apartment, on your balcony or outside away from the main door. But people don’t always listen and it’s hard to keep track of all the people who smoke in places they are not supposed to.
Other than that, I really love this complex. Friendly, peaceful, and just a good feel to the place. Very safe.
The owners are really great and friendly. I would defiantly recommend this complex to anyone looking for a nice place to live.
Be nice to the maintenance crew and they will treat you very well. You should be nice to them anyways. I am sure their job is hard enough without nagging renters bothering them.
